First Sweater - top down baby jacket
Sundays: March 23, 30, April 13, 27 - from 10 to 12

You will learn the simple raglan structure of this baby jacket, including a knit-as-you go button band, simple button holes, and a cozy shawl collar. This design starts at the neck and knits down to the garter stitch bottom edge with minimal finishing and other than buttons, no sewing! The infant pattern comes in 0 -3 months, 3 - 6 months, or 12 months. The same pattern is available if you prefer in toddler or children’s sizes.

This is a great first sweater, or a fun knit for an experienced knitter. This might become your favorite baby sweater pattern! The first meeting is March 23, coming together as a class over several Sunday mornings as we work on this project.

Materials: Pattern will be sent to you by email in advance of the first class, or you can pick up a copy at Indigo Purls, to help you select the size and yarn for your project. This can be knit in yarn from your stash, or from one of the fine yarns in the store.

Bring appropriate circular needles and yarn (infant uses sport weight yarn, toddler uses DK, children’s uses worsted weight). You will need smallish buttons for the cardigan, the number depends on the size and the version you are knitting.

Infant bring US#4 - 16” or 24” circular and double-pointed
Toddler bring US #6 - 24” circular and double-pointed
Youth bring US#7 in 16”, 24” & 32”

Required skills: This is a beginner-friendly first sweater. Comfortable with knit and purl stitches, and garter stitch. You will be provided instruction on the increases, picking up and knitting, and making the button holes.
