Beginner Drop Spindle

Drop spinning is a wonderful, portable introduction to the world of spinning yarn. Once you get the hang of it, spinning is a form of creative meditation. You can take your spindle just about anywhere. Plus knitting, crocheting, or weaving with your handspun yarn is one of the best feelings! Learning how to spin also helps you become a better knitter or crocheter because it enhances your knowledge of yarn construction.
This is a two part class with 6 hours of instruction split between the two class sessions. In the first part on Wednesday, April 23, you will learn how to draft fiber and spin yarn on a drop spindle. In the second part on Wednesday, April 30, you will learn how to ply the yarn you spun and how to finish the yarn by setting the twist. There is an option to join our free spinning group on Thursday, April 24 from 5-7pm for extra spinning help and practice.
