Thursdays Ranunculus Knitalong

Join us in a new KAL of a versatile, long-standing, popular sweater pattern, the Ranunculus. This garment is top-down construction with a circular yoke of texture and lace stitches. It transitions to the main body and sleeves with raglan shaping. The pattern designer, Midori Hirose, walks the knitter through each aspect of the construction with several options provided to customize the look and fit. Originally designed with generous positive ease the pattern now includes eleven sizes that gives more range of choice for the desired aesthetic.
The versatility of this pattern is legendary. Any yarn weight from lace to worsted is possible. Using size 10 (6mm) needles for all yarn weights is encouraged. This combination allows for creating garments that will work for any season. Swatching is not critical, unless you are looking for a specific fabric. The larger needle size also gives the added bonus of less yardage being required and generally a fast knit.
Given that the pattern was first released in 2017 and has grown widely popular, the knitting community has shared a multitude of modifications. For the adventurous there are thousands of project listings on Ravelry.com and countless photos, blogs, videos, and tutorials on the internet from which to glean ideas and inspiration.
Since you can choose a variety of yarn options, why not take a look at our cottons like Pima 100, cotton/bamboo blends like Birch Bay Lite, or even wool/linen/silk Coastal? These are all great summer yarns, and really nice to knit. Purchase the pattern separately, about $6.52.
