Fiber Prep and Blending with Rowan and Maddy

Have you reached the point in your fiber arts journey where you are ready to try preparing your own spinning fiber from unprocessed fiber? Are you dreaming of buying a fleece and doing the whole process from fleece to yarn? Are you confused about all the different fiber prep and blending tools out there? What do they all do, and do you really need to buy all of them?

Join Maddy and Rowan for a weekend introduction to the most common fiber prep tools and their best uses. Over two days you will get to see and try out a blending board, hand cards, drum carder, art batt drum carder, a wool picker, and different kinds of combs. We will go over worsted and woolen fiber prep, when and how to use these important tools, and make some spinning samples to place on our sample cards using different wool and alpaca preparations. Students will leave with the understanding of which tools they should invest their money and time in depending on the kind of yarn they want to spin. They will also take home their spinning samples card and wool preparations to spin later.
